Arsenal have made a bid to sign Napoli duo Faouzi Ghoulam and Lorenzo Insgine, according to reports in Italy.

Last week, it was reported that Arsenal sent a representative to Napoli’s game against Atlanta a fortnight ago to watch both players in action.

The duo couldn’t save their team from suffering a two-nil defeat on the night but it appears their individual performances impressed the Gunners’ scout.

According to Calcio Mercato, Arsenal have followed up that scouting trip with an official bid to sign both players.

The report claims a written bid worth €60m has been tabled by Arsenal for both players.

Scouting a player and making an official bid are two different things and Arsenal’s decision to firm up its interest must have caught many Gooners unaware.

If it is true, it means Arsenal are wasting no time to strengthen their squad that has failed to challenge for a major title once again.

Looking at Arsenal’s team, the left back position and the right wing are two positions that are lacking in quality and Arsenal’s move to fix the problem with Ghoulam and Insigne means the club is looking to do better next season.

Ghoulam and Insigne have both failed to agree on a new contracts with Napoli and we could well use their situation to our advantage.

Both players have contributed to a combined 18 of Napoli’s league goals (both in goals and assists) this season and could well have the chance to continue their partnership at the Emirates next season. Arsenal’s offer should be more than enough to bring them here considering their contractual situation.
