Arsenal have identified Juventus manager Maximiliano Allegri as the man to replace Arsene Wenger.
Wenger’s future is currently in doubt as his contract expires at the end of the season. He has been offered a new two-year deal already but he isn’t going to make a decision on his future until April. There are fears that he could decide to step down if he feels the fans don’t want him anymore.
Wenger has faced criticism from fans in recent weeks after a string of poor performances saw us drop out of the Premier League title race and Champions League. Following Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool yesterday, some fans called for the French man to be sacked and all these could weigh into his mind when taking his decision.
According to Tribal Football, Allegri is Arsenal’s first choice to replace Wenger if he decides to step down.
The report claims Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Tuchel, Monaco’s Leonardo Jardim and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone are other managers on Arsenal’s radar but it is Allegri who is the club’s preference.
Allegri has done a wonderful job at Juventus since he became their manager in 2014, winning two consecutive Serie A titles and reaching the Champions League final in his first season.
He is on course to win his third successive league title and obviously will be a good replacement for Wenger. He has a track record of winning titles which is exactly the kind of manager the Gunners especially with our last major title coming more than ten years ago.
