Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United could rival each other for the services of AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas, according to The Mirror.
Wenger is a big admirer of the defender and had tried to sign him on two occasions, in 2014 and 2016. We were close to signing the defender in 2014 after we agreed on a fee with his former club Olympiakos only for Roma to sign him under our noses.
Last summer, we made another approach to sign him but had a £35m bid rejected for the defender before we opted to sign Shkodran Mustafi.
With Arsenal keen to shake up things this summer, Manolas is still said to be on our radar. However, we could face competition from Liverpool for his services.
Jurgen Klopp has identified the Greek international as the man to strengthen his defense and will rival Arsenal for his services.
Manchester United are also big admirers of the defender and will be watching his situation with keen interest.
Arsenal will do well with a new centre-back to provide competition for Koscielny and Mustafi next season as both Mertesacker and Gabriel have failed to impress this season.
Manolas will be a great signing but I don’t think he would be the ideal signing for us. For the price he’s expected to command, there is no way he’s gonna sit on the bench, so I don’t expect us to make a move for him. He would be too much of an expensive buy to be a squad player.
