Arsenal are planning a double raid on Real Madrid as Wenger prepares to carry out a major overhaul of his squad this summer

Wenger is keen on strengthening the squad ahead of next season, after falling short in the title race once again.

A striker is said to be top of Wenger’s wish list and Don Balon via The Daily Star claim Benzema is a priority.

The Spanish striker has been inconsistent this term and Madrid top brasses are said to be open to the idea of selling him.

Arsenal are believed to be big fans of the striker, having been linked with him in almost every transfer window and that could well the reason our name has cropped up again now that his future is in doubt.

Another Madrid player said to be on Arsenal’s short list is Brazilian defender Danilo. Wenger has reportedly lined up the fullback as a replacement for Bellerin who is being linked with a move to Barcelona.

The report claims Wenger is prepared to pay  for the defender, considering he has struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu since completing a €31.5m move in 2015.

Gooners are keen to see Wenger splash the cash this summer but few will be happy with reports linking us with the Madrid duo. Benzema, who has been one of football’s best strikers over the year had a poor outing this term compared to his usual standards and most Arsenal faithful believes he is showing signs that he is past his best. Danilo, a top defender but can’t be compared to Bellerin. Hence we don’t think he’ll be the perfect replacement for the Spaniard.
