Arsenal are reportedly interested in Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.
In the last six months, the Gunners have been linked with a host of goalkeepers as a replacement for David Ospina who is expected to leave the Emirates this summer.
Although Arsene Wenger recently denied his interest in a goalkeeper, insisting we have more than enough options on our book, reports seem to say otherwise.
Last week, the Turkish media claimed current second choice Ospina has set his sight on a summer move to Turkey and now The Daily Star via The Metro claim Wenger has set his sight on Butland as a potential replacement.
The Stoke City shot-stopper is regarded as England’s future no 1 and is rated highly by those in the Premier League. Despite missing the past one year with a knee injury, the goalkeeper is still regarded as a great investment for the future.
Arsenal are believed to be one of those keen on the 24-year-old but the report also mentioned Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City as other clubs keen on his services.
The Gunners could do with a new shot-stopper considering the situation surrounding that position at the Emirates. Ospina is keen to play regularly and could opt for a move elsewhere while Szczesny who has just about a year left in his Arsenal contract doesn’t want to return to the club to sit on the bench.
Butland won’t want to sit on Arsenal’s bench either but interest in the England international does mean Wenger is already eyeing up targets for that position should the need arise in the summer.
