Arsenal are preparing a bid for Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina, after Wenger identified him as his top midfield target this summer, according to Standard Sport.

The report claims Arsenal are in the market for a new central midfielder and Wenger wants to secure the services of Lemina who has been likened to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

The Gabonese international is yet to fully break into Juventus starting xi and has managed to feature from the start on just 15 occasions this year. However, he is considered as a very promising, dynamic midfielder with the potential to play at the top level.

Juventus are reportedly open to the idea of selling the midfielder, as they do not consider him part of their current plans and Arsenal are keen to offer him a route to the Emirates.

Arsenal are yet to open negotiations with Juventus over the midfielder’s transfer but that wouldn’t be a problem once the future of Wenger is resolved.

Wenger’s reluctance to decide whether he wants to stay or not is somewhat slowing things down as regards summer transfer targets but transfer activities will get into full swing when he signs a new deal, which is the likely scenario.

Lemina’s arrival will further cast doubt on Jack Wilshere’s future, considering the English man is expected to be part of our team next year. Arsenal was expected to make Wilshere a key part of its plans but the midfielder’s inability to stay fit could have forced the club to look somewhere else for reinforcement.
