Arsenal and Tottenham are set to rival each other for the services of Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.
Last week, The Telegraph claimed Mahrez wants to leave the King Power Stadium this summer to a club playing in the Champions League.
And The Times via The Daily Star suggest Arsenal and Tottenham are in the running to sign the talented playmaker.
The report also claims another Premier League club whose name isn’t yet known is also interested in the Algeria international.
Last season’s PFA player of the year, Mahrez, wants to continue playing at the top level and feels he has to leave Leicester to accomplish that.
Although Leicester City wouldn’t stand on his way if a big club comes calling, they are expected to demand a huge fee for one of their best players. It is said that Mahrez and his club reached a gentleman agreement when he signed a new deal last year that will allow him leave if a big club comes calling this summer.
Arsenal are believed to be interested in signing a winger and Mahrez who was instrumental in Leicester City’s title triumph last year would be a perfect signing.
However, there could be a problem, the player’s quest to play Champions League football could work against us if we don’t finish in the top four this term.
The Gunners currently sit fifth on the Premier League log table, three points and one point behind Manchester City and Liverpool respectively and will need either of the duo to drop points on Sunday to finish in the top four.
