Arsenal are plotting a summer bid for Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina, according to reports.
Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his centre midfield options this summer and is looking at a host of talented midfielders to recruit this summer. A host of names are being rumored to be on the boss’ wishlist amongst whom are Olympic Lyon’s Coretin Tolisso, Porto’s Danilo Pereira and Juventus’ Mario Lemina.
However, it appears Lemina is fast becoming the favorite to complete a move to the Emirate in the next transfer window.
The Gabon midfielder seem not to be part of juventus current plan and his club are willing to sell him. However, Wenger is a fan of the player and a big admirer of his potential and style of play.
Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato via The Daily Star are now claiming Wenger could lodge an £8.6m bid for the midfielder this summer.
This is more than half of the £17.4m Juventus payed to sign him.
Despite the midfielder not a regular at Juve, it is unlikely he would be sold for that fee, especially after we had a £13.9m bid rejected for his services last year, as noted by the report.
Although, Juve will find it difficult to recoup all the money they paid for the midfielder, someone would readily pay more than what Arsenal are willing to offer because of his enormous potential.
It remains to be seen if the player’s potential will force us to step up our bid but one thing is, we’ll benefit a whole lot if we sign Lemina because his physicality in midfield will be a great asset.
We have lacked the much needed midfield presence especially in big games and having a physical player like Lemina protecting the defense line will prevent opponents from running all over us in midfield, in turn giving us a good chance to win those games.
