Reports from the Telegraph claims Arsenal’s move for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez has hit a small bump in the road with the Foxes still looking for close to £50m for the winger.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the Algerian international this summer with reports claiming the deal has been done and all that’s left was medicals which was fixed later this week.
The Telegraph suggest the Gunners are not willing to spend over £35m for the former PFA Player and this could cause issues in sealing the deal.
Mahrez guided the Foxes in winning the Premier League in the 2015/2016 scoring 18 goals in all competition but failed to replicate the form last summer.
The 26-year-old handed in a transfer request at the end of the season and spoke of his desire to play for a top club and win trophies but interest in the winger has been small due to Leicester’s demand for around £50m.
When asked about Mahrez last month, Wenger said: “Have we made a bid for him? No. Not yet. Not yet means it could happen, it could not happen.
“I think he had a huge impact at Leicester when they won the championship, like everybody else.
“It’s been a different season this year but it doesn’t take anything away from his qualities.”
