According to reports, Leicester City and Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez is determined to join Arsenal this summer transfer window.
Reports claim Arsenal are about to suffer a massive blow in signing Thomas Lemar as Monaco are reportedly holding out on a fee of £55m for the Frenchman.
The Sun on Sunday claims the midfielder will turn down the AS Roma to force a transfer to Arsenal.
Wenger originally thought he could land Lemar for £25m but Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev is steadfast in his demands that his best young players won’t be sold on the cheap.
Arsenal were prepared to go up to £45m but may now have to pay well over £50m.
It means a move for Riyad Mahrez is now the most likely one to be done this summer.
Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare revealed on Friday that Roma had lodged a bid for the attacker.
He said: “I think I was quoted as saying on the last press day there had been no bids.
“There has been a bid from Roma. I was told afterwards so I want to put the record straight.
“It was politely declined on the basis it was a low offer.
“What that offer was don’t ask me because I don’t know and I don’t get involved in that.”
Mahrez was very instrumental as the Foxes won the Premier League title last year, scoring 18 goals from 39 matches.
