According to reports, Turkish giants Galatasaray are in talks to sign Egypt international Mohamed Elneny from Arsenal, according to reports in Turkey.
The 25-year-old has been linked to Premier League side Leicester City in recent weeks after Arsenal accepted a £10m bid, but he opted to stay in London and fight for a starting spot at Arsenal.
Arsenal initially signed Elneny from Basel for £5m in January 2016, with the midfielder making 40 appearances across all competitions for The Gunners ever since, many of which have come as a substitute or cup game starts and it’s believed he is deemed surplus to requirements by Arsène Wenger.
According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergun arrived in London on Sunday and has already started negotiations for the Egypt international. The Turkish side are reportedly keen to get the deal done after their other transfers have fallen through.
If a deal can be struck, Elneny would be the second Egyptian player to join the Turkish League this summer alongside Mahmoud Trezeguet, who joined Kasımpaşa on a season-long loan.
It’s worth mentioning that Mohamed Elneny is under contract at the Emirates until June 2020 and started just 12 games in all competitions last term for the Gunners.
