Chelsea are preparing an immediate transfer offer for Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to stories.
The 23-year-old is being strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer after refusing the Gunners’ offer of a new £100,000-a-week deal before the 2017/18 season.
It’s believed Liverpool are also showing a strong interest, with Jurgen Klopp, a keen admirer of the England attacker. However, the Merseysiders are yet to make a formal offer.
The Daily Express claims Chelsea are set to overtake the Reds in the hunt for Oxlade-Chamberlain with an offer for the ex-Southampton player in the next 48 hours.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of the deal in north London next summer, and it’s understood Arsenal want at least £25million for the Englishman.
Manchester City have also emerged as a possible suitor as Pep Guardiola searches in the market for attacking reinforcements.
Guardiola has switched his attentions away from Alexis Sanchez, with Paris Saint-Germain the front runners to sign the Chilean.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly decided to rekindle their interest in William Carvalho, making the Sporting Lisbon star their top transfer target as they look to reinforce in midfield.
The Portugal international has been linked with the North Londoners and other Premier League sides in the past and seems to be back on the agenda this summer.
The Gunners look short of quality in the middle of the park as Jack Wilshere appears set to move on amid reports of interest from Crystal Palace and Sampdoria.
Elsewhere, footballers like Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin didn’t look too impressive for most of the last terms, making Arsenal’s need for the apparent interest in a midfielder up to now all the more surprising.
However, it appears Arsene Wenger does see that as an area of priority and Record claim he’s set to step up his interest in Carvalho.
The 25-year-old has shone in his time with Sporting and for the Portuguese national team, and would likely cost around £27million to move in this transfer window.
Other sides such as Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in the footballer, though his preference is to move to Arsenal, with Thierry Henry probably one of his big idols.
The Gunners have done some great business so far this summer by signing up Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.
