The shocking 1-0 away lose to Stoke City has brought the fans’ opprobrium upon Arsene Wenger, with a section of the fans blaming the defeat on the lack of a stable squad going into the new season. The future of the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hangs by a thread and we are still in doubt as to whether the manager would sign more players before the transfer window closes.

However, the fans are set to be placated if latest reports are true since it is reported that Arsenal are keenly interested in the signature of Paris Saint-Germain’s winger Julian Draxler.

Italian news source Transfermarketweb claim that the Gunners have made contact with their French counterparts in view of sealing the transfer of the 23-year-old who is considered surplus to requirement at the Parc des Princes.

Further report claims that Wenger has finally come round the idea of recruiting the star who has been a long-term target of the Gunners prior to his big money move to PSG barely seven months ago. However, with the £198 million transfer of Neymar Junior from Barcelona, it now looks as though Draxler would leave barely seven months after completing joining Unai Emery’s side.

Arsenal are said to be favoured in this deal since it is reported that Barcelona turned down PSG’s offer to have Draxler make a switch to Camp Nou. However, the Gunners have to contend with Man United and Liverpool for the signature of the player but the presence of his compatriot Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker is a good reason for him to consider joining Arsenal.

This is one deal that will douse the anger of the fans who are angered over the situations of their club after failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League last term.

He joined PSG from Wolfsburg in a  £40m deal in January.
