Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal with Monaco for Thomas Lemar, in what see the Gunners’ record transfer fee almost doubled.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have now offered Monaco £92m for Lemar, and the Telegraph has reported that the bid has been accepted. Lemar is supposed to be Alexis Sanchez’s replacement. Whether that deal goes ahead or not depends on Arsenal signing the Frenchman.

Monaco reportedly do not want to sell Lemar, but some desperate English club making a crazy offer could well change their mind. The 21-year-old was apparently happy to join Arsenal, but recent reports suggest he wants a move to Liverpool and not to London.

If the deal somehow went ahead, the fee would be a British transfer record, beating out Paul Pogba’s £89m move to Manchester United last summer, let alone almost doubling Arsenal’s £52m signing of Alexandre Lacazette.

To go from having no money to breaking the transfer record in 24 hours would be quite something. Lemar is due to play for France against the Netherlands tonight in a World Cup qualifier, meaning Arsenal will want to conclude this deal quickly.
