According to The Mirror, Arsenal are ready to cut their losses with Mesut Ozil and push through a January transfer for the German midfielder.

The 29-year-old midfielder’s current contract expires at the end of the season with the north Londoners, and the club have accepted that they will not convince him to sign a new deal.

The issue for the Gunners now becomes finding an appropriate buyer for the former Real Madrid man as they hope to keep him away from a Premier League rival such as Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of Ozil from their time together at Real Madrid, and reports throughout the summer have suggested that The Red Devils manager would like to bring him to Old Trafford.

But with fellow contract rebel Alexis Sanchez looking destined for another Premier League rivals Manchester City when his deal expires at the end of the season, Arsenal are worried about the appearance of losing their two-star players to league rivals.

Instead, the Gunners will try to push Ozil to Inter Milan once the transfer window re-opens in the new year.

Arsenal have reportedly offered Ozil a new contract in a region of £275,000 a week, but the German international is only interested in putting pen to paper if he receives an eye-watering £350,000 per week.

The 29-year-old German international has scored 32 goals and collected 57 assists in 166 games for the Gunners.

Mesut Ozil has also won the amount of silverware in that time as well, he has helped his club win three FA Cups and three Community Shields during his time in England.
