Embattled Germany and Arsenal star, Mesut Ozil has refuted claims that he is set to move to Manchester United in the winter transfer window. In an unexpected twist, he has come out to say that his primary focus is at the Emirates stadium.
Speculations regarding his future have been intense in recent times, fueled by his widely-publicized recurrent refusal to accept terms of a contract extension at the club. His current contract expires next summer; and to avoid losing him on a free, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has tried to convince him to commit his future to the club, all
to no avail. News had it that Manchester United had already established talks with his representatives over a cut-price move in January, but he has now come out to clear the air.
Speaking with reporters, he said: I’m happy here (at Arsenal). I always do my job to 100% for this club. It is important for me to give my all and enjoy playing as well. Whatever else happens, we shall see in the future.”
Following a string of inspiring performances in recent weeks, Arsene Wenger has also come out to echo the player’s thoughts. Speaking after the 5-2 thrashing of Everton that culminated in the sack of the Everton Manager, Wenger said: “We are living in an environment where we always have to deal with wrong news.” He also added: “When you see him (Ozil) focused and like he was today enjoying his game, it’s difficult to believe this type of things.”
