Leicester manager Claude Puel has sent a clear message to the likes of The Blues and Arsenal over the future of Riyad Mahrez.
Mahrez, 26, has netted 37 goals in 149 games for the Foxes, however, was linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium after handing in a transfer request in the summer. It’s believed Antonio Conte, Arsene Wenger and even Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde shown an interest in the striker. However, he stayed at Leicester for the 2017/18 season.
Asked abut Mahrez, Leicester’s new head coach Puel claimed: “It is down to me to make these players want to stay by the fact we are playing good football.
“I have always got to attract them, to seduce them. It is down to me to create that environment where these players want to thrive and stay and be happy and to enjoy themselves. ‘It is normal for a player, if they win the title and play Champions League, that sometimes there is the disappointment, frustration because now they know the high level.”
Puel succeeded Craig Shakespeare as Leicester manager last week and won his first game in charge of the club with a 2-0 loss to Everton on Sunday evening.
