Arsene Wenger has opened up on his January transfer plans and admitted he will dip into the market – if he can find players who will improve his squad.

The Gunners have been linked with several players across Europe as the season has progressed, with some high profile names suggested as targets.

Thomas Lemar remains a priority from Monaco and Arsenal are expected to return with another offer for the winger, with doubts remaining whether Alexis Sanchez will still be at the Emirates in February.

Lyon’s Nabil Fakir is another player heavily suggested as a target, while Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi and West Brom centre-back Jonny Evans have been linked.

Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Abdou Diallo from Bundesliga outfit Mainz – with strengthening a defence which has looked stretched at times this season a priority for Wenger.

And speaking about his transfer plans for January, Wenger insists he will be active if the opportunity presents itself, but has warned fans not to expect wholesale changes at the midway point of the campaign.

“You do not imagine that we will change 10 players in January,” the Arsenal boss to beIN Sport. “It’s 90 per cent that it’s the same squad.

“If we can find some additions to strengthen our squad we will do it.

“But we have a big squad, I think we have players of quality. We need just to stick together and fight as we can until the end of the season.

“I believe that we have to be faithful to the players we have at the moment.”

Asked whether Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez would still be at the club at the end of the window, Wenger added: “Sanchez and Ozil have a contract until June, that’s it.”
