AC Milan are considering a loan move for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott in January, according to reports in Italy.

Il Posticipo write that the Italian club are struggling with Financial Fair Play restrictions, but still need reinforcements.

In particular, they’re looking for pace out wide, so they see Walcott as the right player for the right price. Milan want to bring him in on a loan deal if possible, potentially with the option to buy later.

The 28-year-old still hasn’t started a league game for Arsenal this season, since Wenger prefers to start Alex Iwobi or Danny Welbeck. The Gunners boss has also only brought the winger on from the bench twice in the last 17 matches.

Walcott only has a year-and-a-half left on his contract in North London, so unless things change, Arsenal will probably look to sell before long.

However, Southampton could challenge Milan for the England international’s signature. The Saints have just sold Virgil van Dijk for £75m, so they certainly have the funds.

The forward might prefer to stay in England, where he’s spent the rest of his career, and to go back to his former club. Walcott spent six years with the Saints before joining the Gunners in 2006.
