La Liga giants Barcelona have completed a four-year move for Arsenal youngster Marcus McGuane, according to reports. The Hale End Academy product has featured in many matches for the Gunners youth team since he joined the club in 2005 at the age of five.

The 18-year-old player featured in two Eupora League matches for Arsene Wenger’s men this season before his move to the Camp Nou. The price paid by Barcelona for Marcus McGuane’s was undisclosed, but it was understood that there is a release clause of €25 million (£22m) in the contract signed by the youngster.

Arsene Wenger who is widely known as a manager with huge faith in youngsters, told newsmen last year that he loved the player’s work rate and versatility. According to the Frenchman, Marcus is a natural defensive midfielder who can also operate as a wing-back and center-back.

“He is a defensive midfielder, and overall he can play as a wing-back or even a centre back in training,” he said.

Having arrived at Barcelona, the youngster was immediately sent to the Catalans youth team for the conclusion of the season. He could make his debut for the Segunda’s team on Sunday when Barcelona B battle Cordoba.

While confirming McGuane’s departure via their official website, Arsenal thanked the player for his contribution to the Gunners’ Youth team. They also wished him more success with his new club.

“We would like to thank Marcus for his contribution and wish him well at Barcelona.” they wrote on their official page

McGuane 18, has featured for England Under-17,18 and 19 side. He will hope his move to the Blaugranas will enhance his dream of representing the Three Lions in the nearest future.
