Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal could miss the next four games with a back injury, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
The 32-year-old was forced off early on in Arsenal’s 3-0 Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday after trying to play on through the pain.
The Spaniard was seen holding his back but the club were initially hopeful that he’d be back to face Brighton next week.
However, with Manchester City to come on Thursday before games against the Seagulls, Watford and a crucial Europa League clash against AC Milan, Wenger has confirmed Monreal could miss all four games.
‘Nacho Monreal is out for the two games this week and he might be out for two more,’ said Wenger. ‘He has an inflamed back. The rest, everybody is fit.’
