According to the Metro, Arsenal are eying a summer swoop for Basel ace Mohamed Elyounoussi.

The 23-year-old has starred for the Swiss side this season, and put in a man of the match display against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.

Elyounoussi equalised for Raphael Wicky’s men in the 17th minute after Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring, before he turned provider in the second half as Michael Lang netted the winner.

And according to ESPN, Gunners scouts were in attendance at the Etihad as the Moroccan-born Norwegian international dazzled.

Arsene Wenger’s side know full well of the qualities the former Molde ace possesses, having played against Basel twice in the Champions League last season.

With seven goals and 13 assists in all competitions this campaign, the Swiss giants are already bracing themselves for offers when the transfer window reopens.

While Elyounoussi’s agent Ferhat Cifici recently revealed that his client is attracting an array on interest from potential suitors, but failed to divulge which clubs are interested.

He told ESPN: “I don’t want to speak specifically about certain clubs, but there are lots of teams interested in Mohamed.

“He was man of the match against Manchester City and I know some clubs went to watch him in that game.

“His performances for Basel have made a lot of teams sit up and take notice of him and what he can do at the highest level.

“The boy is ready to make the next step in his career and I have a lot of meetings planned with clubs so we will see what happens.”
