Arsenal are reportedly open to trading Karim Benzema for Arsenal ace Hector Bellerin at the end of the season.
Benzema has endured a dismal campaign at the Bernabeu as Zinedine Zidane’s men have failed to keep pace with La Liga leaders Barcelona.
And he’s set to be one of a number of high profile casualties as Florentino Perez wields the axe and overhauls Real’s squad.
Benzema has long been linked with a move to Arsenal to link up with compatriot Arsene Wenger.
And the latest reports from Spain suggest the 30-year-old could be on his way to the Emirates as part of a deal involving Bellerin.
According to Diario Gol, Arsenal see Benzema as the perfect man to partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front.
And it is said they even see the partnership as being capable of matching the one he’s forged with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real president Perez is happy to open negotiations over an agreement for Benzema, who’s netted just seven times this term.
And Diario Gol indicates he’d like to take advantage of those talks by bringing Bellerin into the bargain.
Ordinarily, a striker of Benzema’s pedigree would be worth more than a right-back.
However, the fact that he’s misfired this season means his valuation has plummeted.
As well as offloading an out-of-form player and bringing in cover for Dani Carvajal, Real could get one over on Barcelona by snaring Bellerin.
Barcelona have been credited with an interest in signing Bellerin, who used to be part of their famed La Masia academy.
