Arsenal have been boosted in signing Bordeaux star Malcom as Bayern Munich has reportedly dropped out of the race in signing the Monaco winger.
Malcom, 21, revealed in January that he had struck an agreement with the Ligue 1 club to let him go in the summer and he would be able to choose his next destination.
Bayern Munich had been heavily linked with the Brazilian and he had been earmarked as a long-term replacement for Arjen Robben. However, Jupp Heynckes – who will leave the club in the summer – says Bayern are not interested.
‘I have never seen him play,’ Heynckes said. ‘Therefore, I am not able give an opinion on him.
‘But I don’t think there is interest here. He always gets put into the shopping window but nobody really goes after him.
Arsene Wenger is known to be a huge admirer of the winger and Bayern’s statement is unlikely to go unnoticed at the Emirates.
Bordeaux value Malcom at around £50m and north London rivals Tottenham have also shown interest.
