Robert Lewandowski’s time at Bayern Munich appears set to come to an end this summer but what remains uncertain is where the Poland international will end up.
As usual, all the top European clubs have seen their names linked with a sensational swoop for the former Borussia Dortmund star, but a more surprising team has reportedly entered the mix.
According to Spanish source Mundo Deportivo, as cited by Sport Witness, Arsenal are in talks with Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, about a summer transfer to the Emirates.
Arsenal are set to finish sixth in the Premier League for a second consecutive season and barring a miracle run in the Europa League, they are all but certain to miss out on Champions League qualification, which on paper at least, doesn’t make them an attractive option for the 29-year-old who is spoken about as one of the best No.9’s in the business.
In addition, the Gunners have spent in excess of £110m this season alone on two new strikers, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, which makes their alleged interest in Lewandowski all the more surprising.
Despite their interest, it is believed there is an agreement on personal terms between Lewandowski and Real Madrid for a summer transfer, but whether they can meet Bayern’s demands remains to be seen. The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United have both been linked with a move for the striker.
