Arsene Wenger could come back to haunt Arsenal if he finds a new club, says Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.
Wenger has a year to go on the two-year contract extension he signed last summer.
But the Frenchman’s future at Arsenal has come under intense scrutiny after a disastrous domestic campaign.
The Gunners sit 13 points off the Premier League’s top four, with the Europa League representing their only hope of silverware this season.
Wenger has always maintained he will honour his contract, but there has been talk of the club looking to replace him in the summer.
And should Wenger leave, Merson reckons the 68-year-old could come back to haunt the Gunners at a new club.
“I think he’ll be manager somewhere else,” Merson told talkSPORT.
“He’ll get a job in two minutes when he leaves Arsenal, he’ll want to manage again.
“I look at Arsene Wenger and football is his life. He will manage again.
“That is the problem for Arsenal; when he does go, he could come and haunt them.
“Wherever he goes he could go and do something special like he did at Arsenal.”
