The Sun are reporting Arsenal have joined Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City in making an offer to 15-year-old Melayro Bogarde ahead of his birthday later this month.
The Feyenoord youngster turns 16 on May 28th, at which point he’ll be eligible to sign his first professional contract.
Melayro is the nephew of former Ajax, Barcelona and Chelsea defender Winston Bogarde. It wouldn’t be the first time Arsenal signed the nephew of a former player, considering Alex Iwobi’s presence in the squad.
The young Bogarde plays the same position as the 47-year-old one did, centre-back. He has the physical attributes to succeed as a defender, as well as the ability to play to play out from the back. That’s an important trait to have if you’re going to succeed at Arsenal.
