Reports making the round claims Mikel Arteta could be named as Arsene Wenger’s within days as a replacement for Arsene Wenger this summer.
The former Arsenal midfielder has held talks with the club and is considering offering Santi Cazorla the opportunity to join his backroom staff, according to the Independent.
The search has begun for Wenger’s successor after his 22-year association ended with a win over Huddersfield Town on Sunday and the north London outfit are hopefully of naming a new manager before the start of the World Cup in Russia.
Experienced managers in the likes of Juventus coach Max Allegri and former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique have been linked with the post but the Gunners have already begun talks with the Spaniard’s representatives.
The 36-year-old is keen on compatriot Cazorla being a part of his backroom staff in a player-coach capacity should he be named manager of the Gunners.
Wenger’s assistant Steve Bould has also been offered a new role but the former defender hasn’t yet given an indication of his future and is understood be weighing up an offer from recently relegated Stoke City.
