While there were a bit of uncertainty over a deal for Torreira, Sampdoria’s president has revealed that Arsenal have signed the player. according to rife reports,
Emery is looking to correct the loopholes Arsene Wenger ignored during his rein for Arsenal – the Gunners defense is shabby and they have lacked a maverick defensive midfielder since the departure of Patrick Vieira and Alexandre Song.
Stephan Lictsteiner has completed his surprise move, joining him was Leno on Tuesday and Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is expected to join before Caglar Soyuncu.
Torreira will join the party as Emery begins a revolution at Arsenal – Sampdoria’s president Massimo Ferrero, confirmed on live TV that the deal is done.
“Torreira has left for €30m (£26m),” he explained.
“I bought him from Pescara when nobody believed in him.
“We took a gamble on him and we won, paying just €3m (£2.6m).
“The money that comes in will be used to capitalise the company.”
It is understood that the 22-year-old is seen as Jack Wilshere’s replacement.
