Arsenal are reportedly lining up a summer move for Freiburg’s Matthias Ginter, with Premier League rivals Manchester United also eying the defender.

With the gunners unsettled center back Thomas Vermaelen seeking a move away from the Emirates due to lack of first team action, Arsene Wenger has been on the lookout for a suitable replacement and it seems once again the Frenchman has looked to the Bundesliga for another German to fill in the center back for Arsenal increasing the number of Germans currently at the Emirates.

Young Ginter’s impressive performances in the Bundesliga this season have seen him awarded his first full Germany cap earlier this month and attracted the attentions of both Man United and Arsenal.

But it is currently the Gunners who are thought to be leading the chase for the highly-rated 20-year-old, who is expected to fetch around £8m in the summer transfer window.(Metro)

Ginter was watched by Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley in this weekend’s 4-1 victory over Frankfurt, as boss Arsene Wenger searches for a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who looks set to depart the Emirates at the end of the season.

The 6ft 3in centre-half is expected to earn a place in Germany’s World Cup squad where he will likely act as cover for Arsenal’s Per Mertesacker and Jerome Boateng.

Would this young German be capable of filling the shoes of Vermaelen if he eventually departs the Emirates in the summer?
only time would tell but considering this young Lads impressive performances in the Bundesliga it looks certain that the German being only 20 would not only live up to expectation but would likely go on to be an Arsenal Favorite having age well at his side.
