Manchester City have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of this weekends vital game against Arsenal with playmaker David Silva set to join Sergio Aguero on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
David Silva played a vital role in City’s demolition of Rivals Manchester United on Tuesday night as the Derby ended 3-0 in Favour of the Blue side of Manchester although it Appeared the midfielder picked up a knock during the match.
The Mirror claim that the Spaniard complained of feeling pains in his ankle immediately after the game and has been having intense treatment to try and get him fit for the trip to the capital tomorrow.
The gunners are set to receive City at the Emirates this Saturday in a crucial encounter for both sides as city are looking to continue their fine run of form while putting intense pressure on league leaders Chelsea, and Arsenal looking to bounce back after a massive defeat to Chelsea last week Saturday and then giving away a 2-1 lead to Swansea City on Tuesday in the midweek.
His loss would come as a huge blow to the Citizens as they try to not only put further day-light between them and fourth-placed Arsenal, but also take a major step in their quest for the title this season, although City are reportedly prepared to wait until the last minute before deciding on Silva’s involvement, but it seems he’s a major doubt at present.
With City currently occupying the third position on the league table and just three points behind league leaders Chelsea with two games in hand, a win over one of their rivals this weekend would make Manuel Pellegrini’s men the firm favourites to lift the title this season.
Silva’s Unavailability may be to the advantage of Arsenal with the players current run of form although Arsenal still have a lot to be worried about with the likes of Yaya Toure still on top form this season and has proved to be another of City’s most valuable midfielder.
I would like to see an Arsenal side keeping a close watch on Toure as the former Barcelona man will try to cause an upset at the Emirates tomorrow following Silva’s likely absence.
