Wenger Believes Arsenal Can Still Fight For The League Title – Reports

wenger 000Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has continued to hail his players performance against Manchester City while insisting that they can go on fighting for the top spot in the premier league.

The Frenchman is still full of hope following his sides performance last weekend as well as the outcome of the results from the rest of the top 4 teams with Chelsea losing to Crystal Palace.

Following Arsenal’s 6-0 loss to Chelsea at the Bridge and a draw against Swansea City at the Emirates last week, it seemed Arsenal’s title chance had been lost as the gunners prepared to receive the blue side of Manchester at the Emirates last Saturday.

But to the delight of the fans, the gunners put up a good fight against an in-form City, coming back from a goal down with flamini firing home in the second half after David Silva had put the visitors ahead in the first half of the encounter.

Wenger was pleased with the way his players responded as Flamini cancelled out David Silva’s opener to earn his side a point on Saturday.

When asked how his previous week had been following two disappointing results, Wenger described it as “very, very bad”.

He told reporters:You go through a nightmare at Chelsea where you think you have not even been given a chance to play the game. On top of that, in the last seconds of the game, we score an own goal in the match after.

“It has been very bad and, as well, very positive because it is always an opportunity to show you have mental strength. I am very proud of my players because they have shown that.

Wenger also further pointed out the teams hopes and chances as regards the title chase…

“We have shown we can fight, that we can be united and that we can respond to adversity.

“The frustration is that we have not got the result we wanted but, overall, the performance was there from the first to the last minute and the attitude was spot-on.”

With the gunners bracing up to take on 5th placed Everton next, it would be great to see an Arsenal side picking up all three points against the Toffes. With the Toffes pressing on for the coveted 4th position on the league table in other to push for a Champions league spot.
