Bayern Munich are confident of keeping hold of Mario Mandzukic, despite the scheduled arrival of Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund at the start of next season.
Following Bayern Munich’s acquisition of Robert Lewandowski, several reports have linked the inform “Goal-Machine” Mario Mandzukic away from the German Capital with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea all monitoring the situation with a bid to swoop the Croatian star in the summer.
Mandžukić signed a contract with Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of €13 million, following a brilliant performance at Euro 2012 in Ukraine and Poland, and because of his terrific form at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both closely monitoring the situation of the 27-year-old, with recent report claiming the player agent Ivan Cvjetkovic was in London to meet the representatives of Arsenal and Chelsea.
But Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dismissed rumours about the striker’s future by stating that the Bavarians are not interested in selling him and Mandzukic is happy with the situation in the German capital.
“He seems very happy. There is no sign from him that can make me doubt his presence at Bayern beyond this summer”, the 58-year-old told Sport Bild.
“Just by seeing his contract, which runs until 2016, I can sleep peacefully.”
since joining Bayern from Wolfsburg in 2012, Mandzukic has made a total of 50 appearances for the club scoring 32 times. with the player bagging 24 of those goals this season in 42 appearance making him the current highest goal scorer in the Bundesliga so far this season.
It would be interesting to see how this situation would unfold at the end of the season with the player set to face stiff compettion from new in-form aquisition Lewandoski next season.
