Arsenal playmaker and club record signing Mesut ozil is edging closer to his return than earlier expected.
The talented midfielder has been left sidelined with a hamstring injury which he suffered during Arsenals’ second leg Champions League clash against Bayern Munich last month.
Speaking ahead of the Tottenham game last month, Arsene Wenger said..
“We lose of course Ozil who has been injured on Tuesday night and I don’t know for how long exactly he will be out but it looks a minimum of three weeks, maximum six.”
The 25-year-old had to undergo intensive physio sessions and has now stepped up gym work and is set to rejoin the training group soon according to the Mirror.
This would certainly be a lift for us, as our $42 million club record signing has been left out due to injury but is hoping to be back quicker than expected so he can be involved in the chase for a top-four finish and further end our nine-year trophy drought.
Although Ozil is unlikely to be fit for the FA Cup semi-final against Wigan next week Saturday, but he should be available soon after.
Many Arsenal fans and the team itself has certainly missed the midfielder’s creativity on the pitch and are expecting to see the talented German back on Arsenals’ first team squad.
