Reports according to Mirror are suggesting that Arsenal could be set to make a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti.
The Italian International Midfielder who has made 52 appearances for the French giants so far since joining from Pescara has nailed down a regular starting spot for the French moneybags this season with PSG currently topping the French Ligue 1 table with a massive 13 points.
The 21-year-old was in the starting line up for the French side that saw off Chelsea 3-1 in the first leg of the Champions League last week as Verratti delivered another impressive performance. Although, it was a much more dramatic night yesterday at the Bridge in the second leg of the champions League Clash, as the Blues’ overturned the 3-1 advantage scoring 2 unreplied goals at the bridge. leaving the scores at 3-3 on aggregate but edging past the Ligue 1 leaders on away goal rule.
Boss Arsene Wenger has grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of steel in his midfield despite the flock of talent at his disposal with his team lately falling to heavy defeats to fellow top four clubs.
The Gunners suffered another comprehensive defeat at Everton on Sunday, where they were dominated and overran by their rampant opponents, exposing the gunners midfield woes with Mikel Arteta and co failing to stand their ground yet again leading to the insecurity of the 4th position which the gunners currently occupy.
This has lead to the believe by many that Wenger is looking at the possibility of landing Verratti, with the player seen as a long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta, who was particularly lacklustre at Goodison Park.
Also according to TuttoMercato, Blanc could be set to cash in on the Italian, in favour of more attacking options in the middle of the park. And it is believed that Arsenal would be keen on snapping him up, with a €19million fee touted.
Following the young Italians’ record, his said move to the Emirates would sure bring a bit of stability to the Arsenal midfield as he has done to PSG since his arrival at the club.
The player also has Age on his side being only 21-year-old which is a major advantage in terms of the player improving better with time. This facts mentioned above are some of the criteria Arsenal boss looks at before deciding to sign any player.
