Arsenal’s hope of signing German and Freiburg star Matthias Ginter seemed to have been squashed with reports yesterday in Germany saying that the player have completed a deal of around £6.6million with fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
The gunners had in the summer been expected to enter talks for the young German in a bid to bring the star to the Emirates. But following reports yesterday by German newspaper Bild saying that a transfer fee has already been agreed, it then seemed Arsenal’s hopes of snapping him up were over.
Or not because the club and the player himself have since refuted the claims of BILD in their pre-match press conference also yesterday.
Freiburg take on Eintracht Braunschweig today and in the media hustle before the game the claims of a done deal were obviously addressed – to which Ginter personally and bluntly denied:
“There is nothing fixed.”
