Arsenal Receive Boost As Target Declares Himself Available!

matthias-ginterArsenal’s hope of signing German and Freiburg star Matthias Ginter seemed to have been squashed with reports yesterday in Germany saying that the player have completed a deal of around £6.6million with fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

The gunners had in the summer been expected to enter talks for the young German in a bid to bring the star to the Emirates. But following reports yesterday by German newspaper Bild saying that a transfer fee has already been agreed, it then seemed Arsenal’s hopes of snapping him up were over.

Or not  because the club and the player himself have since refuted the claims of BILD in their pre-match press conference also yesterday.

Freiburg take on Eintracht Braunschweig today and in the media hustle before the game the claims of a done deal were obviously addressed – to which Ginter personally and bluntly denied:

There is nothing fixed.”

Also sporting director Jochen Saier was on ground to give more insight on the story of deal been reach with both clubs and here is what he said:

“We have neither an offer from Borussia Dortmund – currently there were detailed discussions. What was reported is not true. That is all there is to it.”

Dortmund have had a difficult season this year and are set to make wholesale changes in order to get them challenging with Bayern Munich.

The denials are genuine, but it is also fair to say that BVB might just be about to press on with a deal.

Talks are being held and unless something drastic, like late interest from Arsenal for instance, Ginter will likely become a Dortmund player this summer.

Time will tell, but the writing does seem to be on the wall.
