Andres Iniesta has admitted that Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas is hurt being targeted by the boo-boys
There has been massive reports recently claiming that the future of Arsenal former captain Cesc Fabregas is heading for the rocks at Barcelona with supporters urging the club to sell the midfielder in the summer.
Now it seems the situation has worsen as the Spanish international midfielder was jeered during Barca’s weekend win over Athletic Bilbao by Nou Camp fans.
Iniesta while reacting to the bad gesture shown to Fabregas said it is not something any football player wants and when it does happen, you are hurt and you try to brush it aside and keep on giving your best.
“Of course it hurts to see Cesc jeered,” said .
“You try to ignore it and hope it does not happen, but these situations are not comfortable.
“Nevertheless, I think it’s isolated. I do not think it’s a personal situation for him. We are in a rare season that depends on everything around us now.”
With Barca on the verge of winning nothing this season, Barcelona’s supporters have become increasingly frustrated with the 26-year-old.
The Spain midfielder, who arrived at the Nou Camp for £35million in 2011, has struggled for form this season despite playing more minutes than any other player since Tata Martino took charge.
Speculation was rife after a poll by Spanish sports paper Marca claimed 50 per cent of Barca supporters want the midfielder to leave at the end of the season.
Although Barca are currently fighting a transfer embargo that prohibits them from making any new signings, but they are still permitted to sell players. However if the Spanish giants go with the fans wishes and decide to let go of Fabregas, his likely destination would certainly be the Emirates as the player has in the past reiterate his desire to return to Arsenal where he made a name for himself, captained the team and was adored by the fans.
