Arsenal are reportedly in the middle of Luis Suarez deal as Real Madrid plans to sell off Karim Benzema to the gunners and storm the English Premier League for prime target Suarez
Real are reportedly prepared to sell Karim Benzema to Arsenal to fund audacious Luis Suarez bid.
Reports in Italy suggest that Real remain optimistic that they can persuade Suarez to swap Merseyside for Madrid despite the Uruguayan signing a new contract at Anfield earlier this season.
Florentino Perez is said to be enamoured with the idea of having Suarez join Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in one of the most fearsome forward lines ever assembled.
Real know that Suarez will not come cheap however, and appreciate that they will need to offer an enormous fee to even tempt Liverpool after Suarez fired them into title contention this season.
And the Spanish giants believe that they have just the way to raise such funds in the form of Karim Benzema.
Indeed, with the French international’s contract set to expire at the end of 2015 Real understand that there best chance to auction the player off to the highest bidder will come in the summer.
Juventus are thought to maintain an interest in taking Benzema to Italy but Arsenal – who were heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old last summer – reportedly remain favourites to sign the striker.
Benzema has rediscovered his form this season under Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid this season but even the Italian boss admitted recently that it was impossible to predict what would happen in respect of the former Lyon man’s contract.
He said: “He’s doing a very good job. He is consistent and he plays well.He scores goals and is an important player for us.
“The renewal of his contract is a subject that is not for me to comment because it is the business of the club [but] everyone is happy because he is doing a very good job.”
For his part Suarez has maintained that he is now very happy in Liverpool after becoming unsettled by speculation last summer, and the Reds would be hugely reluctant to let the former Ajax man leave, particularly if he can fire the Reds to their first league title since 1990.
It now remains to be seen whether Real are able to raise the funds for an irresistible offer, or whether they decide to offload Benzema and seek a replacement elsewhere.
Wenger will be looking to take advantage of Real’s plans to land Suarez and move for long target – Benzema after being heavily linked with the player but failing to get his signature both last summer and in the winter transfer window.
A Benzema to Arsenal move will certainly come as a massive boost for Wenger as well as the Arsenal fans who have been calling for the club to bring in a marquee striker to the club to support lone striker Olivier Giroud who has played more games for the gunners second to defender Per Mertesacker this season.
In my own opinion, a Benzema to Arsenal move is very feasible with the club directors promising to hand Wenger a fat transfer kitty in the summer.
But the question remains this; will Wenger meet up with Benzema’s price tag? as he is in the past known to short-change player, and being too prudent in his spending. With the Suarez transfer incident in the summer only fresh in our minds as we lost any chance to sign him after Wenger failed to up his offer for the then ‘unsettled’ goal machine.
