Arsenal welcome Newcastle United at the Emirates on Monday night in a match that would see the gunners further secure their top four spot after fellow top four contender – Everton could top them this Saturday with a win against Southampton in an early kick-off.
The gunners had a totally disspointing run of form – after winning just 3 out of 9 premier league games played in month of Feburary and March. But French international Bacary Sagna has said that the gunners are back on form but insisted that the gunners have to win every single match in other to secure the Champions League spot next season.
“I hope the best is still to come because we still have games to play,” Sagna told Arsenal Player. “It was good to stick together because we were playing quite badly and dropped many points.
“But it was about time to wake up and that’s what we did recently in our games. We’re fighting a bit a more and we’re helping each other a bit more as well.
“We had to react because we were beaten too many times and didn’t fight to win those games. We showed a different image from what we’ve done in the past year and it was not Arsenal.
“Now we’re fighting back and we will take it step by step. With Wigan we managed to show some character – it was good to come back to win the semi-final and I think it’s going to give some power to the team to the end.”
Arsenal will be favourites against an out-of-form Newcastle United on Monday night, but Sagna says they will still have to work hard for the three points.
“We have to win every single match and play it game by game to qualify for the Champions League and win the FA Cup,” he said.
“But it won’t be easy because [Newcastle] will want to show a different image, they will want to take points and they will want to wake up like we did.”
