One of Arsene Wenger’s most sort after target in the summer of 2013 as well as in the Winter transfer window has spoken out on rumours linking him with a switch to the Emirates this summer.
Bayer Leverkusen and German International midfielder, Lars Bender has spoken out on reports linking him with a move to English Premier league side Arsenal in the summer.
The midfielder’s refreshing comments come on the back of rumours suggesting Wenger is ready to revive his interest in the 25-year-old at the end of the season.
However, Bender according to the Metro, insists any talk of a £20million move away from Germany is wide of the mark.
He said: ‘I signed my new contract until 2019, and that should have told everyone how happy I am at Leverkusen.
“I feel settled here and see no reason to change anything.
‘In fact, if I am to be completely honest, I haven’t had a brilliant season and don’t feel ready yet to take on a pivotal role at a big club somewhere else.
‘I need to keep working on my game, and I am going to do that here at Leverkusen. That suits me, and I am happy with that.”
Although Recent reports are claiming that Wenger wants clarification on Javi Martinez’s future at Bayern Munich amid suggestions the Spaniard is unhappy at Bayern – before pressing ahead with a £20million move for Lars Bender.
But as it stands, Leverkusen’s Bender remains the Gunners’ leading midfield transfer candidate, with club officials still feeling he is the best realistic option open to them this summer.
