With the Arsenal fans expecting the long wait for a silverware to end this weekend should the Gunners win the FA Cup final clash against the Tigers. Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has warned his teammates against complacency in the team ahead of the clash.
Cazorla says all the expectation is on Arsenal to end their nine year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup on Saturday. The 29-year-old midfielder while insisting that Arsenal are in the best position to lift the title also hinted that there can be a twist in event, and that anything can happen in the game of football.
The Spain international scored the Gunners winning penalty in their dramatic semi final spot kick win over Wigan in the semi final of the competition.
And now believes he and his team-mates need to deal with the expectation on them to lift the first piece of silverware the north London club has lifted since Arsene Wenger’s side won the FA Cup in 2005.
“Everyone expects Arsenal to win, but anything can happen in a game of football.
“We know we’ll have a good chance if we play well and are at our best.
“But we must be careful as if we do not perform we could pay the price.
“You can see how hungry the fans are to win a trophy. We have to deal with the pressure.”
This kind of remarks coming from an active member of the squad is great news as it shows that the team is aware of the dangers of complacency ahead of the clash. As i have always said that Steve’s Bruce’s men should not be taken for granted even though the team has had a poor run of form to the close of their Premier league season, capping it with a 2-0 home defeat to Everton last weekend.
