One of Arsenal’s target Morgan Schneiderlin has declared he wants to leave Southampton and play for a Champions League side.
The French midfielder has been superb for the Saints this season, earning a place in Didier Deschamp’s World Cup standby list in the process and will join the trio of Arsenal stars such as Bacary Sagna, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud featuring for the Les Blues in Brazil.
The 24-year-old has been one of Mauricio Pochettino’s key men at St Mary’s, and Arsene Wenger reckons the deep-lying playmaker would fit perfectly into the Gunners’ 4-2-3-1 system.
The 6ft tall midfielder admits that for the sake of his career, a summer move to a top club would be hard to turn down.
He explained: “For my progress and my visibility, it would be better to play for a club who play in the Champions League.
“I know there is a lot of speculation, but I still have three years on my contract, it does not depend on me. We’ll see in the coming weeks.
It is clear from the midfielder’s statement that he wants out of the Saints in a bid to come to the spotlight and insists only a team that play champions league football will give him such opportunity.
Wenger who has been in pursuit for Schneiderlin in other to replace tiring legs of assistant captain Mikel Arteta also providing competition for Mathiue Flamini will be looking to take advantage of the situation and offer his countryman a chance to play champions league football something that the Saints cannot offer the player, at least not next season.
