Liverpool Step-up Pursuit For Arsenal’s Serie A Target – Reports.

Although the summer transfer window is yet to officially open, a lot of clubs have been making close door arrangements and meetings with various representatives of players in other to finalize talks of players signature even before the transfer window kicks open in July.

Liverpool are poised to make an offer for out-of-favour Juventus forward – Sebastian Giovinco with Arsenal also being linked with the 27-year-old, but Italian sources now claim the Gunners will have to fend off Liverpool’s advances to land the Italian.

Liverpool’s search for a striker has seen them linked with top names including Karim Benzema, Wilfried Bony and Stephen El Shaarawy. with the former two players also being strongly targeted by Arsenal as well.

And with Brendan Rodgers planning an assault in the Champions League next season, greater forward options and strength in depth will be a necessity.

A lack of first-team opportunities mixed with precious few goals leaves Giovinco looking certain to exit the Juventus Stadium this summer.

The winger has only started 17 Serie A matches this season, completing just over 60 per cent of those for the Old Ladies of Turin.

Juventus boss Antonio Conte prefers his prolific strike partnership of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez, who have netted 30 goals between them.

And with Giovinco’s contract due to expire in the summer of 2015, his agent Claudio Pasqualin revealed that a move could be on the cards.

He said: “Sebastian still has one more year on his contract.

“We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens.

“If the club come to us with an extension, then that’s fine. But if not, we’ll have a look round for other clubs.”

Arsenal had in the past been in the pursuit of Giovinco even before the player broke into the Juventus first team but failed on several occasions to land the Italian. but with the Turin outfit changing several managerial hands over the last couple of years, Giovinco has suffered greatly in terms of making the starting line-up under new the new manager. And although the 27-year-old has revealed his displeasure under the new manager, it is still uncertain if Wenger will re-ignite his interest in the pacy forward.
