The transfer window has been kicked wide open following the end of the Arsenal season and as usual a lot of players have been linked with a move to the Emirates as well as several other Arsenal stars being linked with a move out of the Emirates.
The much awaited summer transfer window is here again and many Arsenal fans world wide are yet again expecting a flock of stars at the Emirates this summer especially on the back of a reported £100M set to be handed to Arsene Wenger.
For a typical Arsenal fan, Summer transfers is like expecting a gift from your grandmother on your birthday (you don’t know what to expect) and with such great expectancy come a greater fear of disappointment.
Now Arsenal are this morning being linked with a move for former Chelsea star Samuel Eto’o.
The Cameroon international, who has won the Champions League with both Barcelona and Inter Milan, is reportedly keen to stay in London.
He is available on a free transfer, which is bound to appeal to Arsene Wenger, who prefers not to open the club’s wallet if he doesn’t have to.
The 33-year-old would offer some welcome support to the no-doubt exhausted Olivier Giroud.
Eto’o, in my own opinion is a decent player who has an eye for goal, but the striker has passed his prime and even thou he signs for us in the summer, he wont last more than next season before he finally hangs his boots, putting us back into the transfer market again for another striker partner for Giroud.
As much as i would like Wenger to sign a decent striker with a great eye for goal such as 33-year-old Eto’o, i would prefer a younger player that would see him stay for at least 3-4 years more to properly get the rhythm here at Arsenal. such a striker in the person of Winfried Bony, Edison Cavani, Mario Mandzukic and Karim Benzema just to mention a few who are all currently in their prime (26/27-years) and still have at least 6 years to offer before finally hanging their boots.
