Barcelona and Spain forward Pedro; failed to shine at the on going Fifa World Cup – An outing that saw the defending champions crash out horribly at the group stage of the competition after Vicente del Bosque’s side fell to a massive 5 goal defeat at the hands of Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands before falling to an another 2 goal defeat when the Spaniards meet with the Chileans.
The 26-year-old who would will turn 27 by the end of July failed to shine at the World Cup for his Spanish side despite being handed starts for the first and second match of the tournaments for Spain.
Arsenal have however prior to the World Cup been on the trail of the Spanish star with earlier reports last month suggesting an offer from Arsenal would be on the cards soon for the player after the World Cup.
But any hope of Arsenal landing the player in the summer have been squashed with recent reports revealing that the Catalan club are hell bent on keeping the pacy winger.
Pedro who racked in over 15 goals for the Nou Camp outfit last season would be another option as Wenger tries to bolster a strikeforce that has misfired at various times last season.
But the club’s sporting director – Andoni Zubizarreta insists the Spain international is going nowhere.
“Pedro is not transferable,” he said. “I am counting on him to be with us for many years.”
As a new regime is being plotted out by the Spanish giants, it appears that the new boss at Barca is determined to keep hold of the winger insisting that he is part of the future of the club and thus indispensable.
