Arsenal are currently searching for sharp shooters in the transfer market, as the club seeks to add fresh legs to the striking department before the start of the 2014/2015 season.

The Gunners who saw off Liverpool and Juventus in the race to secure Alexis Sanchez are looking to add at least one more striker to the club, Although reports suggested that Arsenal were close to signing Loic Remy from Newcastle, we are made to understand that the deal is no where near completion at the moment as the two clubs haven’t reached an agreement on the player’s fee.

Arsenal definitely not wanting to take chances at all have gone ahead to make enquiries for Salomon Kalou of Lille, with reports claiming that Arsenal were told to pay about £5 million for the Ivorian star.

Kalou who moved to the French club on a bossman transfer in 2012 after his contract with Premier league side; Chelsea exhausted – scored 16 league goals with 6 assists in 38 league appearances, establishing himself as an indispensable figure in the team.

The player is not a stranger to the English Premier League as he spent 6 seasons in the English premier league with Chelsea playing a total of 156 league games and scoring 36 goals in the process, winning a total of 8 trophies during his stay with the club. This premier league experience could be vital if he joins the club because he’s already accustomed to the league and would hit the ground running.

However age seems not to be on his side as he would be 29 when he celebrates his birthday this august, which is not a long-term panacea, considering Giroud’s age. I definitely have no qualms with this signing as he would be content to be a squad player and would not be a drop in quality when called upon to help the team, as you may know that the horse-Giroud needs to be rested for him to perform better.

Fellow gunners, would he be a good acquisition, or should Wenger just look away to other striker targets?
