Arsenal who have shock the entire summer transfer market recently after securing the services of Barcelona and Chilean hitman – Alexis Sanchez seem to have a lot more coming to the delight of the fans as Arsenal manager; Arsene Wenger prepares a team that is capable of clinching major trophies for the Gunner next season.

Arsenal who are presently unsure about the future of centre-back; Thomas Vermaelen are currently on the lookout for a decent replacement after the Gunner’s captain have been linked with a  move away from the Emirates in search of first team action following his falling from the pecking order to a formidable Per Mertesacker-Laurent koscielny partnership.

Now Arsenal have agreed to take Egypt international Ahmed Fathi on trial this summer ahead of a possible shock transfer to the Emirates.

The 29-year-old, who has previously had spells in England with Sheffield United and more recently Hull City, is currently back home playing for Al Ahly.

He helped the club win the African Champions League last season and now the Egyptian side have confirmed Arsenal will take a look at him during pre-season – with a view to a possible deal.

‘Ahmed Fathi will travel to England on Friday to undergo a trial with Arsenal in preparation to sign him if the trial is successful,’ Al Ahly said on Facebook.

It’s not the first time Fathi has had a trial with the Gunners, having previously trained with the team back in 2004, but no contract was offered.

A tough-tackling defender who can also play as a deep-lying midfielder would join the rest of the Arsenal squad in training immediately and should the Egyptian impress the Gaffer, he would be available for a nominal fee should the Gunners boss decide to snap him up after the trail.
