Arsenal On the Verge Of Securing Second Summer Signing.

After bringing in Chilean star Alexis Sanchez for a transfer fee of around £35 million, Arsenal are on the verge of signing highly-rated Nice goalkeeper David Ospina, according to reports in Argentina.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for Ospina in recent weeks, with Arsene Wenger on the lookout for a new goalie to rival first-choice Wojciech Szczesny.

And now respected Argentina news outlet Varsky Sports says the 25-year-old is close to sealing a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Ospina, who impressed for Colombia at the World Cup, turned down a new contract at Nice before the tournament in Brazil and the French club have made it clear to the player he can leave the club.

Arsenal are thought to be paying around £3 million for the goalie, who has just 12 months left on his contract. With David Ospina poised to become Arsenal’s next signing of the summer.

The Nice goalkeeper has excelled for Colombia, proving his worth in between the sticks for his national team side in the just concluded tournament but reports have it that the 25-year-old was on Wenger’s wish-list prior to the World Cup.

The Colombian could be available for around £3 million from Nice, making him better value than alternatives such as Cardiff City’s David Marshall, that seems a no-go at the relegated Welsh club’s £10m asking price, Alex McCarthy of another Championship side, Reading, who would cost around £6million and also Norwich City’s John Ruddy who has also been priced higher compared to Ospina.
