After opening the Gunner’s summer transfer window in a grand fashion with marquee acquisition of Barcelona hitman Alexis Sanchez. Arsène Wenger now believes that the progress his side made last year offers a “good platform” for further success this season.
The Gunners were top of the Premier League for much of the 2013/14 campaign before finishing fourth, while they also won the FA Cup.
Wenger was encouraged with their performances and believes it bodes well as they prepare for another title challenge this term.
“I feel that in the Premier League we were not far away,” the boss told Arsenal.com. “We got 79 points and with what happened to us with injuries, I feel that we did quite well.
“On top of that we won the FA Cup so I think it’s a good platform to go for more. But in the Premier League everybody tries to improve the team and it’s very difficult to predict what will happen this year.
“What we can be sure about and what we can make certain of is that we are ready for a fight and we are better than last season – that’s our target.
“We have the ambition, we have the desire, we should have the confidence from last season – so we have a good basis. It’s now up to us to make sure we have the right attitude and the right hunger to go for more.”
Going on the back of this statement, the confidence level of Le Prof sure seems high. But i’m sure like you all know that he has all the reason to be; after boosting his squad with key signings. With several reports suggesting that the Frenchman is still far from done with his summer shopping.
We are sure to have a grand opening as well as a grand closing to the 2014/2015 season.
