Done Deal For Arsenal’s 3rd Signing, Two More Signings That Could Follow?

Arsenal are seriously active in the transfer window this summer and all who are connected to the club have rolled up their sleeves intensifying efforts to strengthen the squad before the FA community shield match against Manchester City on the 10th of August.

With the club having in mind the several mauling which they received at the hands of fellow title rivals last season. And the most painful of all being the 6-0 defeat at the Stamford bridge on Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game. They have gone ahead to bolster the squad with the acquisition of experienced players like Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy to the club.

However, recent reports have it that Arsenal are on the verge of sealing the deals for Nice 1st choice goalkeeper-David Ospina and also Sami Khedira from Real Madrid. With many reports suggesting that a deal for the former is done and dusted with an official statement of the players signature from Arsenal Imminent. Making the 25-year-old goalkeeper the Gunners 3rd signing in just over 12 days.

If this deals go through, the Arsenal squad would have more depth and firepower when push turns to shove in the race for the English Premier league title.

Despite this incoming signings, the Gunners still have some positions to fill; like the striking department and centre-back position, where Thomas Vermaelen who’s on an extended holiday due to his participation at the World Cup has refused to rule out a move away from the club. And to make matters worse, he was pictured having some nice time with Van Persie; which is no good news to Arsenal fans.

These positions are definitely short of bodies but here are 2 weird targets rumoured to be linked to Arsenal.

1. Position: centre-back
Target: Chris Smalling

It is reported that Arsenal are ready to do business with Manchester United, should Vermaelen decide to leave the club and would insist for a Smalling plus cash bid from the Reds.
The player who featured in the 2014 Fifa World Cup for the Three Lions, starting just the Novelty game against Costa Rica is highly skilled in challenging for aerial duels and could be a reliable backup for either of Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscienly. However, it’s left to be seen If United would agree to the deal.

2. Position: striker
Target: Mario Balotelli

Yes, you heard right. this is quite an under-rated deal which many fans think it won’t see the light of day. But with PUMA in the mix, anything can happen.

Balotelli himself have sent numerous body languages expressing his desire to join the Gunners; Since no club is winning to acquire his services and with AC Milan eager to sell, you sure know PUMA wouldn’t allow their ambassador’s profile to plummet since that could make them loose ground against the likes of Adidas and Nike.

However it remains unknown if Wenger would do a last minute/surprise move for the want-away Italian badboy.
